Gregory May (UK) – Allegro Scorrevole

Gregory May about his piano piece “Allegro Scorrevole”:

“For me, playing Beethoven’s piano music is unlike anything else. The unique, very rich sonorities, the sometimes extreme tempi, the exhilaratingly fresh forms, the detailed and demanding articulation markings, and most importantly the energy, greatly characterise the writing. All these ingredients have gone into the melting pot of my piece, as I’ve tried to express the effect playing Beethoven at the piano has on me in only two-or-so minutes.”

Special thanks to John Cooney (Junior Academy, UK) for advice and support.
